What is a Fiber Optic Network?
A fiber optic cable is a network cable that contains strands of glass fiber inside an insulated casing. These cables are designed for long distance and very high bandwidth network communications. Fiber optic cables carry communication signals using pulses of light and are increasingly being used instead of traditional copper cables, because fiber offers more capacity and is less susceptible to electrical interference. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) installations are becoming more common as a way to bring ultra high speed Internet service to residences.
How will I benefit from changing to BBTELConnect?
Fiber Optic connections allow for more bandwidth, resulting in faster speeds than copper connections with no distance limitations. BBTELConnect customers will have extremely reliable data transmission. It is completely immune to many environmental factors that affect copper cable.

BBTELConnect has packages that should accommodate every household, from basic up to 1Gig. When will BBTELConnect be available?
As we begin building this all fiber network, you will notice our construction crews installing the fiber optic cables. Once an area is complete, we can start adding customers. We will notify you that the service is available. In most cases, we will visit your home or office to leave information and to notify you the service is available. You are as always, encouraged to contact your local office for the status of your neighborhood and to ask any questions you may have.
How can I get BBTELConnect?
Once an area is built we need to schedule your work order to complete the connection. BBTELConnect requires new equipment to be installed inside and in most cases, outside your home or office. Obviously we are all very excited about BBTELConnect.
Will my telephone work during a power outage?
Fiber optic services do not carry voltage as the copper plant provided in the past. A power source will now be required. In the event of a commercial power outage, a battery back-up is needed to make telephone calls.

High Speed Internet with Copper Technology
Brandenburg Telephone Company offers Broadband (high speed) Internet Services via copper wire technology with download speeds up to 25Meg. Copper technology is being used in areas not served by fiber optic technology. The majority of our customers are currently served by fiber. Fiber crews are working daily to complete this Fiber To The Home (FTTH) project which allows speeds up to 1Gig. Remember, today's home network can devour bandwidth, be sure you have the package that best suits your needs. The top home usage is streaming video and online gaming. - DSL modem/Fiber ONT is provided and maintained by BTC with no additional costs to our subscribers.
- WiFi can be added to any copper broadband connection for as little as $ 11.95 per month.
- Customers needing static IP addressing can subscribe to this for as little as $5.00 per month.
- Residential Broadband accounts include 2 e-mail addresses with up to 1Gigabyte of storage each.
Copper technology has distance limitations; due to these limitations not all speeds are available to copper customers.
